MODELING CALL DETAILS

It's Official!! Our January modeling call and photo shoot will be held at Union 206 Studios in Alexandria, Virginia!*

DATE: Saturday, 19 Jan 2013

TIME: 10:00 a.m.

LOCATION: 350 Calvert Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301

WHAT TO BRING: Photo ID, Fashionable Clothing and any Jewelry, Accessories or Hand Props you'd like to be photographed with.

Because we will be providing free portfolio photos and head shots, this opportunity will be restricted to no more than twenty models.  Space will be limited, so be sure to register soon to confirm your attendance.

TO REGISTER: Send e-mail to steve@sestudiosdc.com.  Include your full name, e-mail and phone number so that we can confirm your registration.  Include the role you would like to participate in (Model, Hair or Makeup Artist, Designer, etc.) and any additional people that will be bringing with you.

This event is open to aspiring models as well as established professionals looking to update their portfolio.  We will have hair and makeup artist present to help you look your best for the camera.

You’ll have an opportunity to capture more than one style, so feel free to bring more than one change of wardrobe as dressing rooms will be available.

If you are new to modeling or maybe need a little refresher to prepare for this event, remember these great tips: [1]

OPEN CALLS:  Models attending open calls…please be on time.  And remember to either bring your portfolio or photos.  Composite cards are not necessary.  Always bring heels, minimum makeup and LEAVE YOUR PROBLEMS AT THE DOOR; meaning come with a beautiful personality and a warm smile.  Think of this as your most important job interview. 

You will only make ONE first impression.  Even though many bookers do not require a complete portfolio, others will only look at your book during an interview.  SO DON'T FORGET IT!!!  Think of it like school…those who showed up to class without their books and pencils did not succeed.  Put time into your portfolio/photos.  But most importantly, PUT TIME INTO YOUR APPEARANCE!!!  Dress to impress, and good luck!

MAILING PHOTOS: When an agency ask for photos mailed, its best to send your BEST three photos.  One should be at least a full body and one should be a good headshot.  Be sure to send the photos "Attention" whichever division you are wishing to work for.  Example..."Attn: Women Division" or "Attn: Mens Division".  Do not expect to get your photos back unless you include a self-addressed envelope.

OPEN MODEL CALL & STUDIO SHOOT

We are happy to announce that SE Studios DC will be hosting an open modeling call and photo shoot on Saturday, January 19th at 10:00am in Upper Marlboro, MD.

SE Studios is looking for male and female models to participate in a series of photo shoots to expand our portfolio.  This opportunity is open to professionals and amateurs interested in adding to their own portfolio or breaking into the industry.

We're also looking for Fashion Boutiques, Clothing Designers, Makeup Artists, and Hair Stylists who would like to showcase their products / work.

Depending on the number of participants, this event will last approximately 4-6 hours beginning with introductions and a brief interview period.  We'll then lead into a full studio shoot.  All participants,  including designers, stylists and other artists, will receive free portfolio/ promotional photos just for attending.

Then, roughly three weeks later, we'll follow up with an on-site session in Washington DC.  At that time we will have photos from the previous event available, including headshots for those who requested promotional prints.

MODELS WANTED

If you are a Model, Artist, or Designer looking to break into the fashion industry, we have an opportunity for you.

SE Studios is looking for male and female models to participate in a series of photo shoots beginning in January.

Makeup Artists and Fashion Designers who would like to showcase their talents are encouraged to apply as are photography assistants in need of experience.  This is a non-paid event.  However, all participants will be provided with free portfolio photos and a chance to become a member of our talent company.

NEW WEBSITE

It's finally here!! Steve Ellmore Studios has an entirely new look and a new, easier to remember home page!

Since 2009, we have used the full title of Steve Ellmore Studios as our web address.  However, the name was long and often difficult to remember.  On December 3rd, 2012, we officially launched a true multimedia website under our new URL: www.sestudiosdc.com.  The new site is based on Adobe Flash and includes new products, services and photos in addition to full multimedia enhancements.

Our web presence has undergone several changes over the years, but we were happiest when we first released a similar look back in 2010. However, after our web host upgraded their software, the functionality of the Flash based site was no longer supported.  In the interim, we switched to an HTML based option using WordPress.

While the HTML 5 made the site compatible with Apple products such as the iPhone and iPad, the program it was built on was mainly intended for blog sites and was not very flexible when it came to uploading photo galleries.  We recently switched to a new web host, and after working with their technicians, we were able to  enable support for our CMS admin tools to develop our new site.

In addition to the new look, we are also developing a mobile app that will allow non-Flash enabled devices to view our products and services.  The new app will detect if Flash is enabled on your system, and if not, will automatically redirect to the mobile site.

The new app should be up and running before the new year.  Look for sneak peeks from your i-device throughout the month of December as we progress through the enhancements.

WINTER WEDDING SPECIAL

Now is the time to start preparing for your spring wedding. You’ll need to find a reception hall, a florist, a caterer and a photographer, just to name a few. If you wait for the winter frost to melt before making your plans, you will soon realize just how quickly the things you want become unavailable.

How do you choose the right vendor? Most bakeries and catering companies will provide you with free tastings, florist will usually design sample arrangements, and any professional photographer should have a decent portfolio to present their work with. But how do you put yourself into the picture (so to speak) when deciding on a photographer?

For those who plan ahead, Steve Ellmore Studios is offering free engagement sessions to couples who reserve their wedding day with us in advance. You’ll have an opportunity to see firsthand how we’ll work together and what kind of results to expect for your big day.

Rachel & Paul's Wedding

As I mentioned in my previous post about this summer's weddings, one of the couples I worked with, Rachel and Paul, had their wedding at a bed and breakfast by the water. Paul comes from a large, traditional Italian family. I had such a good time photographing their wedding, especially their formals and reception. So friendly and out-going, they all made me feel like a part of the family.

Several of the members asked me to take additional photos of them and other family members. It was like a big family reunion. So, by popular demand, for this post I wanted to provide a place for the whole family to see their photos and make it an easy way to preview and select images for ordering copies. So here they are.
