MODELING CALL DETAILS

It's Official!! Our January modeling call and photo shoot will be held at Union 206 Studios in Alexandria, Virginia!*

DATE: Saturday, 19 Jan 2013

TIME: 10:00 a.m.

LOCATION: 350 Calvert Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301

WHAT TO BRING: Photo ID, Fashionable Clothing and any Jewelry, Accessories or Hand Props you'd like to be photographed with.

Because we will be providing free portfolio photos and head shots, this opportunity will be restricted to no more than twenty models.  Space will be limited, so be sure to register soon to confirm your attendance.

TO REGISTER: Send e-mail to steve@sestudiosdc.com.  Include your full name, e-mail and phone number so that we can confirm your registration.  Include the role you would like to participate in (Model, Hair or Makeup Artist, Designer, etc.) and any additional people that will be bringing with you.

This event is open to aspiring models as well as established professionals looking to update their portfolio.  We will have hair and makeup artist present to help you look your best for the camera.

You’ll have an opportunity to capture more than one style, so feel free to bring more than one change of wardrobe as dressing rooms will be available.

If you are new to modeling or maybe need a little refresher to prepare for this event, remember these great tips: [1]

OPEN CALLS:  Models attending open calls…please be on time.  And remember to either bring your portfolio or photos.  Composite cards are not necessary.  Always bring heels, minimum makeup and LEAVE YOUR PROBLEMS AT THE DOOR; meaning come with a beautiful personality and a warm smile.  Think of this as your most important job interview. 

You will only make ONE first impression.  Even though many bookers do not require a complete portfolio, others will only look at your book during an interview.  SO DON'T FORGET IT!!!  Think of it like school…those who showed up to class without their books and pencils did not succeed.  Put time into your portfolio/photos.  But most importantly, PUT TIME INTO YOUR APPEARANCE!!!  Dress to impress, and good luck!

MAILING PHOTOS: When an agency ask for photos mailed, its best to send your BEST three photos.  One should be at least a full body and one should be a good headshot.  Be sure to send the photos "Attention" whichever division you are wishing to work for.  Example..."Attn: Women Division" or "Attn: Mens Division".  Do not expect to get your photos back unless you include a self-addressed envelope.

WINTER WEDDING SPECIAL

Now is the time to start preparing for your spring wedding. You’ll need to find a reception hall, a florist, a caterer and a photographer, just to name a few. If you wait for the winter frost to melt before making your plans, you will soon realize just how quickly the things you want become unavailable.

How do you choose the right vendor? Most bakeries and catering companies will provide you with free tastings, florist will usually design sample arrangements, and any professional photographer should have a decent portfolio to present their work with. But how do you put yourself into the picture (so to speak) when deciding on a photographer?

For those who plan ahead, Steve Ellmore Studios is offering free engagement sessions to couples who reserve their wedding day with us in advance. You’ll have an opportunity to see firsthand how we’ll work together and what kind of results to expect for your big day.
